Thailand Topographic Maps from the Royal Thai Survey Department

Following the catastrophic tsunami of December 26, 2004, there have been significant changes in cartographic and geospatial data policies in one of the most affected countries, Thailand. Both digital and paper mapping products are now more accessible to foreign customers. East View Cartographic (EVC) is now able to add topographic maps and digital data produced by Thailand to our library.

EVC is pleased to offer two topographic map series produced by the Royal Thai Survey Department. These series have been produced in close cooperation with U.S. military authorities. The Thai-produced 1:250,000k and large-scale maps now available from East View Cartographic represent the very best topographic mapping available for the country. Both series of the maps are bilingual (English and Thai) and many have vintages in the 1990s. The maps are a major asset for users with economic, archeological, geographic and other scientific interest in Thailand.

The 1:250,000 series is a civilian version of the official, and still restricted, Joint Operations Graphic (JOG) series and represents the most complete bilingual (English-Thai) coverage available at this scale. It offers high-quality topographic data according to JOG specifications including relief, drainage, vegetation, populated places, cultural features, provincial boundaries, and coastal hydrography. The 1:50,000 scale series offers focused coverage of nearly half the country and remains the best publicly available large-scale series.
