EVMAP Series
Our flagship product, EVMAP, is a concept designed to address specific customer needs and requirements. EVMAP represents a geospatial product available in many formats, compiled from best available sources and compliant with current NGA military specifications. EVMAP is provided as a geospatial database supplemented with digital elevation model (DEM), E-Chart and digital raster graphics (DRG) products. EVMAP is a cost-effective cartographic solution for the parts of the world where no better locally or NGA-produced mapping is available.
The source for each EVMAP product can be satellite imagery, foreign topographic maps or existing off-the-shelf digital datasets. By correcting the source data using available ground control, extracting necessary information from the corrected sources and reprocessing the resulting data, we compile a new digital-born product.
EVMAP geodatabases comply with the Digital Geographic Information Standard (DIGEST) and, depending on scale, with VMAP2 (MIL-PRF-89032), FFD (MIL-PRF-89042/1) or UVMAP (MIL-PRF-89035A) standards in terms of feature definitions, attributes and attribute values.
All generic geographic names and object characteristics from topographic maps, reference sources or existing digital off-the-shelf geospatial data are translated into English and properly coded in accordance with existing NGA/BGN practices, standards, vocabularies and specifications. All proper geographic names from topographic maps will be compared against the NGA database of foreign geographic feature names and/or transliterated in accordance with corresponding rules of transliteration. All administrative boundaries (up to the 3rd order) are extracted from topographic maps, reference sources or existing digital off-the-shelf geospatial data.
Each EVMAP is accompanied with a DEM and a series of cartographic products: a raster image representing a final topographic map and an E-Chart. The raster image can be produced as an ADRG product or as a plain TIFF file and meets standard military specifications for raster products. Currently EVMAP can be produced in accordance with the following standards:
- MIL-T-89306, Military Specification 1:100,000 scale Topographic Maps
- MIL-T-89301A, Military Specification 1:50,000 scale Topographic Maps
- MIL-C-89303, City Graphic
An E-Chart is a topographic map generated from a geospatial vector database and provided in PDF or GeoPDF formats. E-Charts are designed for fast dissemination and reproduction; the average size of an E-Chart does not exceed 2 to 3 MB and therefore can be easily shared across the network or served through the Internet. E-Charts can be printed on any wide-format plotter within seconds as opposed to regular raster maps.
