SPOT Imagery
The SPOT satellite system is the premier source for medium-resolution imagery on the market today. In comparison to high-resolution imagery sources such as Ikonos and Quickbird, SPOT offers a larger ground coverage with lower resolution, lower cost imagery. SPOT 5 is the most recent in the series of satellites, added in May of 2004. It offers 2.5m and 5m panchromatic and 10m multispectral imageries, as well as 10m stereo panchromatic imagery using SPOT's High Resolution Stereoscopic (HRS) Imaging instrument. 2.5m and 5m color-fused products are also available.
SPOT also offers highly accurate 3D products covering vast areas using stereopair data gathered by the SPOT 5 HRS satellite. Reference3D is a geocoded, worldwide data base, made up of 3 information layers and precise DEMs are obtained through the automatic correlation of SPOT HRS stereopairs.
SPOT imagery is ideal for site monitoring and analysis of large areas, as well as for imagery backdrops when combined with higher resolution insets.
