1:200,000 Scale

The 1:200,000 map is designed for terrain study and assessment, and is the main map for controlling troops in formations. It is widely used as a road map, since it clearly and fairly accurately depicts the road network and suitability for the movement of combat and other vehicles. In addition to roads, the map depicts the general topography, the principal water barriers, major timber stands, and populated places well, so it is used to study the off-road passability, protective and camouflage properties of the terrain. It is also often used for aircraft navigation.

Most of the sheets over Europe, Asia and Middle East are accompanied with detailed terrain information printed on reverse sides of the maps. The information covers terrain, hydrography, weather, population and built-up areas, transportation network and vegetation. The terrain information is supplemented with a schematic soil map.

The map coverage is global with the exception of Australia, Equatorial Africa and South America. The series is available in paper, raster or georeferenced raster formats.
