Georeferencing
East View Cartographic can georeference any topographic map for you, which can be an essential first step if the maps are to be used in a GIS environment. Once the scanned map images have been georeferenced, they can be viewed together spatially based on their coordinates. This means they can be displayed, for example, through the Latitude-Longitude coordinate system, or they can be projected.
The process entails using image processing software to match coordinates printed on the paper map to their corresponding coordinates in digital map space. Once a set of maps has been georeferenced in this way, the result is digital map coverage of the portion of the earth's surface covered by your maps. When combined with our trimming/mosaicking service (see below), we can provide you with seamless map coverage of your area of interest.
