The EVC CartoDEM-90 is a high-precision product designed to meet the accuracy standards of the most demanding users in military, aerospace, industrial and commercial-simulation markets. Advantages over less expensive DEMs of similar resolution include: complete global coverage (even north of N 60 degrees); 100-percent cell completeness (SRTM cells often have data-void or interpolated areas where radar data was degraded by sandy, snowy and highly mountainous terrain); hydrological correctness (since EVC always captures all hydrographic objects in 3D format and uses them as additional break lines. These 90m DEMs are created from the most recent and best available cartographic source materials for the respective territory. Sources include 1:250,000 scale military topographic maps (JOGs, etc.), 1:200,000 scale Soviet military topographic maps, and similar topographic maps from national mapping authorities. After selecting desired tiles, customers may choose a variety of georeferencing and formatting options.
