Language: N/A Published: 2001 - 2001
The National Elevation Dataset (NED) is the primary elevation data product of the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The NED 10m DEM is a seamless dataset with the best available raster elevation data of the conterminous United States, Hawaii, and a portion of Alaska. EVC makes this DEM data available in its entirety, as a value-added product.
This DEM provides essential elevation information for any GIS or mapping project over the United States. The resolution of the DEM is 1/3-arcsecond, or approximately 10m.
• EVC provides this product as-is, in most common formats and projections
• Primary source material is the elevation information found on USGS 1:24,000 scale topographic maps
• Typical users are mapping and GIS professionals, analysts, scientists, and others
• Typical applications are mapping and visualization, environmental change research, hydrologic modeling, resource monitoring, and many others
• Offered via 1x1degree geocells
• NOTE: For border areas, only US territory is covered, although full coverage is offered for each geocell along the Mexico border. For the geocells along this border, the resolution of the data is 1-arcsecond (approx 30m) on the Mexican side of the border.
